North Carolina State University’s Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is inviting applications for a Lecturer position. The role involves delivering high‑quality undergraduate and/or graduate instruction during the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters, supporting teaching needs and contributing to curriculum development. Responsibilities Deliver engaging and effective course content for undergraduate and graduate students in accordance with the department’s educational objectives. Develop and prepare course materials, assignments, and assessments, fostering critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Provide mentorship, academic support, and career guidance to students. Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance and modernize course offerings, ensuring alignment with industry trends and research advancements. Incorporate innovative teaching methods and technologies to support diverse learning styles and create an effective classroom environment. Participate in department meetings and contribute to curriculum planning and program development. Work on a part‑time, contract basis (0.075‑0.675 FTE) with schedule depending on course load. Minimum Qualifications At least 5 years of college‑level teaching experience for a Senior Lecturer; at least 1 year for a Lecturer. Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field, or a doctoral degree. Strong foundational knowledge in mechanical and aerospace engineering or related fields. Excellent teaching ability and a commitment to student success. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing and delivering innovative instructional materials and using educational technology.
