(Remote) Director Research & Development

Harris; is seeking a Director Research & Development

This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in Canada and the US. Travel is required as needed, approximately 1-2 trips per year to South Korea. Candidates must hold a current, valid passport and be legally eligible to travel internationally. This includes either passport based visa exemption or possession of any required travel visas for entry into South Korea. Preference will be given to candidates who can work in Korean Standard Time timezone.

This role requires Bilingual English and Korean.

Salary:

100K - 140K

What your impact will be:

• Provide technical direction and guidance for all product development and support services needed throughout the organization.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the effectiveness and impact of R&D initiatives and provide regular reports and updates to senior management.
• Own the technology roadmap that outlines the strategic direction for product development.
• Manage the allocation of resources, including budget, personnel, and infrastructure.
• Manage, mentor and coach R&D team members.
• Lead end-to-end project management activities across the team, from planning through delivery.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on scope, timelines, risks, and dependencies.
• Own R&D planning, execution tracking, risk management, and status reporting.
• Act as the primary interface the R&D team and the executive leadership team.
• Provide input on the R&D strategies, goals and objectives to align with business priorities and drive innovation in software development.
• Collaborate with the executive team on the financial operations of the department, including budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring a positive return on investment.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software development.
• 5+ years of experience in project or program management.
• 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role.
• Bilingual English and Korean.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
• Demonstrated experience managing people and leading cross-functional team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to balance delivery accountability with people leadership responsibilities.
• Flexibility to travel for on-site visits to the R&D office as needed.
