Accounting Manager, Capital & Asset Accounting

Are you an accounting leader who enjoys owning complex capital accounting processes while partnering with operations and business leaders? We're seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee capital assets, inventory-related accounting, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives within a growing, multi-site organization.

This is a highly visible role that combines technical accounting expertise with leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic process optimization.

What You'll Do

Capital & Asset Accounting

• Lead the accounting lifecycle for capital assets, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, disposals, and asset record maintenance.
• Ensure asset subledgers are complete, accurate, and compliant with accounting standards.
• Manage capital expenditure approval processes and support investment tracking.

Inventory & Asset-Related Reporting

• Oversee accounting for high-value inventory and asset acquisitions, including cost accumulation, valuation considerations, and dispositions.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare monthly reporting packages, roll-forwards, and variance analyses related to capital investments and inventory activities.

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

• Drive month-end close activities related to capital projects and inventory accounting.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Collaborate with finance leadership to provide actionable insights and reporting support.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Develop and strengthen processes that support accurate asset tracking and financial integrity.
• Serve as the key accounting contact for audit requests and documentation.
• Maintain strong controls around capital expenditures, asset classification, and inventory accounting.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

• Mentor and develop accounting team members through coaching and professional development.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve reporting efficiency, and enhance data accuracy.
• Partner with Operations, Finance, Tax, Development, and other stakeholders to support business objectives.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, fixed asset accounting, capitalization policies, and financial reporting.
• Experience managing month-end close, reconciliations, and accounting operations.
• ERP system experience, ideally within property management, asset-intensive, or multi-entity environments.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage cross-functional projects.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience.

Preferred Background

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with:
  • Fixed assets
  • Capital project accounting
  • Inventory accounting
  • Cost accounting
  • Multi-entity or multi-location operations
• Exposure to impairment analysis, reserve calculations, or asset valuation methodologies.
• CPA or CMA designation preferred.
