Schedule: Every other weekend from 9-5:30 pm

What You'll Do

As our Culinary Specialist, you'll be responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals while helping maintain a safe, welcoming, and efficient kitchen environment.

Your Impact Will Include:

• Preparing meals according to approved menus, portion guidelines, and health and safety standards.
• Ensuring food is flavorful, nutritious, and presented in an appealing manner.
• Coordinating and supporting residents and volunteers in kitchen and dining room activities.
• Assisting with food purchasing, inventory management, and budget-conscious meal planning.
• Maintaining proper food storage and sanitation procedures.
• Monitoring inventory levels and ensuring adequate food and supply availability.
• Supporting daily cleaning and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas.
• Identifying and reporting safety concerns or equipment needs promptly.
• Assisting with meal preparation for special events, celebrations, and community gatherings.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• One year of experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification within three months of hire.
• Strong commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and quality service.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of nutrition and healthy meal preparation.

Skills for Success

• Ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable adults, children, residents, volunteers, and coworkers.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Basic math skills for measurements, portions, and inventory purposes.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.

Physical Requirements

This role is active and hands-on. Team members should be comfortable:

• Standing and moving throughout the shift.
• Working in hot and cold kitchen environments.
• Using sight, smell, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely prepare meals.
• Lifting and moving food products, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
