Job Summary:

Are you a passionate, hands-on chef who loves great food, teamwork, and the opportunity to make a difference every day? We're looking for a Chef to join our culinary team at Saint Mark's Episcopal School in Oakland Park, FL.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented culinarian who enjoys being in the kitchen, leading a team, and taking pride in creating fresh, high-quality food. As our Sous Chef, you'll work closely with the culinary team to support daily food operations while helping create a positive, professional, and collaborative kitchen environment.

What You'll Do/ Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Be a hands-on culinary leader who works alongside the team to prepare and cook exceptional food.
• Motivate, train, coach, and develop back-of-house team members while creating a culture of teamwork and accountability.
• Assist with menu planning and execution, ensuring food is flavorful, fresh, creative, and beautifully presented.
• Assist with ordering, inventory management, food production, portion control, and kitchen organization.
• Help execute successful events while maintaining consistent quality and presentation.
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, and kitchen practices meet Health Department regulations, company standards, and client expectations.
• Partner with the culinary and management teams to keep the operation running smoothly and efficiently.
• Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with the FISD marketing and culinary team.
• Assists with managing cost controls and controlling expenditure.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Strong professional cooking and culinary experience
• Experience leading a culinary or production team
• A hands-on approach to cooking and food preparation
• Experience with inventory, ordering, and food cost awareness
• Experience with banquets, catering, or large-scale food production
• Menu planning and execution experience
• The ability to train, motivate, and develop a team of 6
• Strong organization and communication skills
• A passion for quality, freshness, presentation, and great hospitality
• A positive, team-oriented attitude and a willingness to jump in wherever needed

Qualifications:

• 5 years of related culinary experience including 1 year at the management level.
• Experience in schools, restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
• Knowledge of food and industry trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Ability to set up and distribute production sheets.
• Supervisory, leadership, training, management, and coaching skills.
• ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred.
• Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products including Excel.
• Associate's degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
