General Manager

The General Manager is responsible for continually focusing on achieving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction and developing employees, while maintaining the integrity of the hotel for the Select Service Division.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include touring operating departments daily, conducting weekly staff meetings, meeting financial review dates, holding monthly financial reviews, ensuring department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels, developing managers through competency training, playing a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts, participating in required M.O.D. coverage, maintaining direct contact with management trainees, adhering to all Highgate Hotel policies, overseeing the budget process, ensuring service standards training, creating a positive team-oriented environment, inspecting rooms regularly, ensuring complete processing of invoices, ensuring monthly financial information is sent to the Corporate Office, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of the property, ensuring employees are attentive and courteous, forecasting the hotel's financial position, preparing and conducting management interviews, interviewing prospective final candidates, performing performance appraisals, motivating and disciplining management personnel, performing other duties as requested, ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all employees, meeting clients on the property, being in public areas during peak times, ensuring procedures for handling the hotel safe are followed, conducting monthly credit meetings, completing required corporate training modules, and ensuring all scheduled meetings take place on the property.

Qualifications

Qualifications include at least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 4-year college degree and at least 4 to 5 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and at least 5 to 6 years of related experience. Light work is required, maintaining a warm and friendly demeanor at all times, effective communication skills, multitasking and prioritization skills, attending all hotel required meetings and trainings, participating in M.O.D. coverage as required, maintaining regular attendance, maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming, complying with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations, effective problem-solving skills, ability to understand and evaluate complex information, maintaining confidentiality, and performing other duties as requested by management.

For Employees Based in Washington:

For Employees Based in Colorado:

• 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
• 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
• Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
