About the Role:

The General Curriculum Early Childhood (EC) Teacher for Elementary education plays a pivotal role in fostering the academic, social, and emotional development of young learners within an inclusive classroom setting. This position focuses on delivering a comprehensive general education curriculum while integrating specialized strategies to support students with diverse learning needs, including those requiring special education services. The teacher will collaborate closely with families, special education professionals, and other educators to create individualized learning experiences that promote student growth and achievement. By employing evidence-based instructional methods and ongoing assessment, the teacher ensures that all students meet developmental milestones and academic standards. Ultimately, this role is dedicated to nurturing a supportive and engaging learning environment that empowers every child to reach their full potential in the foundational years of their education.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a related field.
• Valid state exceptional children teaching certification/license.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in exceptional children principles and inclusive teaching practices.
• Experience working with young children in an educational setting.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Education or Early Childhood Education.
• Certification in exceptional children instruction or additional endorsements related to special needs instruction.
• Experience with assistive technology and differentiated instruction techniques.
• Training in behavior management and positive behavioral interventions.
• Familiarity with current educational technology tools and digital learning platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state and district general education standards tailored to elementary students.
• Adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies to accommodate students with special education needs within the general curriculum.
• Collaborate with special education staff, therapists, and families to design and execute Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and support plans.
• Monitor and assess student progress regularly, using data to inform instruction and provide targeted interventions.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages social interaction, emotional growth, and academic engagement among all students.

Exceptional Children knowledge is integral to daily teaching activities, enabling the teacher to modify lessons and provide individualized support to students with diverse learning needs. Effective communication skills are essential for collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement IEPs and ensure consistent student progress. Strong organizational skills help manage lesson planning, student assessments, and documentation required for compliance and instructional improvement. Preferred skills such as proficiency with assistive technology and behavior management techniques enhance the teacher’s ability to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
