RN Respiratory

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will provide skilled nursing care primarily on the Respiratory unit, caring for patients including those with COVID-19, and will occasionally float to various Medical-Surgical units such as Wound Care, Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac, Observation, and Emergency Department boarders. The role requires expertise in telemetry and stepdown care, proficiency in Epic EMR, and strong clinical judgment to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. The nurse will work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care on day shifts. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients on the Respiratory unit and various Med-Surg units.
• Perform patient assessments, monitor telemetry and stepdown patients, and manage treatment plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Document patient care accurately using the Epic EMR system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain patient safety and infection control standards, especially for COVID-19 patients.
• Participate in ongoing competency evaluations, including telemetry reading assessments.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in Ohio.
• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum of 3 years recent/current telemetry and/or stepdown nursing experience.
• Proficiency in Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret telemetry monitoring.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with respiratory and COVID-19 patient populations.
• Previous experience in multiple Med-Surg specialty areas such as Wound Care, Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac, and Observation units.

Special Considerations:

• Must pass telemetry competency testing on day one; failure will result in termination.
• No on-call requirement.
• Strict Epic EMR proficiency required; no refresher training or 1:1 shadowing available.
• Position includes care for COVID-19 patients, requiring adherence to infection control protocols.
• Start date limited to November 16th unless a returning traveler within the last 9 months.

Scheduling:

• 36 hours per week.
• Day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Every third weekend required.
