The customers served include all ages.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Adheres to the principles of caring and expected behaviors outlined in Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center's Model of Caring and Trinity Health's Code of Conduct, fostering a climate where all customers are treated in a manner consistent with Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center's Mission and ValuesMaintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health's Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.Displays effective communication with a polite, compassionate, and caring attitude and demonstrates a responsiveness to needs of patients and familiesMust be accurate and thorough in performing job functionsMust be competent to provide care in the Emergency Department (ED)Demonstrates customer friendly behaviors and promotes customer satisfactionRepresents Mercy One Dubuque at Iowa trauma meetings and meets state requirements through reverification and certification processesDevelops multidisciplinary trauma educational programsWorks closely with the Trauma Program Medical Director to develop a quality trauma programDevelops a quality improvement plan utilizing the trauma registry and concurrent patient reviewAddresses quality issues with nurses, physicians and EMS involved in the continuum of trauma careMaintains the trauma registryCoordinates and acts as a resource in injury prevention activitiesTeaches TNCC and acts as course director of the TNCC programOrganizes and coordinates Trauma Committee meetings with the Trauma Program Medical DirectorAssists in the ED when needed to help with patient flowShares trauma, EMS and PEDS data with ED staff and physicians at department meetings to include thoughtful analysis of the dataLiaises between Mercy One and EMS to create a strong working relationshipAudits EMS charts to find trends that may need to be addressed in the performance improvement processProvides EMS data to other departments as needed (e.g., Shared Services for contract review)Works with Stroke Coordinator to improve pre-hospital care for patientsAssists EMS Medical Directors with the review of quality data and the provision of education to EMS. Where appropriate, obtains CEHs for EMSAttends EMS meetings as a representative of Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center and Mercy One Dyersville Medical CenterLiaises with NICC and promotes a positive clinical experience for EMT students at Mercy OneManages EMS supplies, linens, and food by investigating ways to better distribute those resources while reducing wasteCoordinates the Dubuque County Drug Box Exchange Program on behalf of Mercy One in collaboration with the Director of PharmacyProvides education to ED staff on new or changing EMS practices, equipment, or legislative issuesActs as a resource to ED staff and to other hospital staff with regard to HazMat and decontamination (decon) practices.
