Position Overview We are looking for a true culinary professional to join our team of artisan bakers. As a Baker at Ole & Steen you will learn about authentic Danish bread and pastries and produce artisan Danish breads, rolls, and laminated dough as part of an enthusiastic and international team. The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic about baking, love long fermentation times, and enjoy working as a team. You must adhere to health and safety standards and produce a high volume of products for our stores while maintaining customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Prepare a variety of breads, ryes, rolls, and pastries according to our traditional Danish recipes Observe and maintain product quality, adjusting oven temperatures and baking times accordingly Measure and combine ingredients and use mixers, heat sources, and other equipment Check quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met Follow portion standards Monitor inventory of ingredients for production Properly label and store ingredients Check equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations Maintain a clean and orderly station and adhere to health and safety standards Qualifications & Requirements Completion of a Culinary School program or apprenticeship preferred 2-3 years of professional baking experience preferred; experience with Danish or Scandinavian baking methods is a huge plus Experience with mixing, bench work, proofing, and baking bread as well as working with laminated doughs for breakfast pastry production Ability to work overnight, weekends, and some holidays Able to lift 50+ lbs without restrictions Ability to stand, bend, or work for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions Basic math skills Excellent time management skills Thoroughly follow company procedures according to health and safety standards Adhere to all food safety regulations and procedures Opportunities At Ole & Steen you will get a versatile job with professional colleagues and exciting individual development possibilities.
