Registered Nurse Float Pool

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit.

Work environment includes regular exposure to the risk of blood borne diseases, contact with patients under various circumstances, exposure to unpleasant elements, and varying and unpredictable situations. Must be able to handle emergency or crisis situations and perform emergency care. Is occasionally subject to irregular hours and occasional exposure to radiation.

Supervisory responsibilities include LPN, CNA. Financial responsibilities are none.

Essential functions include documenting nursing histories, assessing patient conditions, developing care plans, assisting physicians, evaluating patient care outcomes, coordinating discharge planning, maintaining patient documentation, formulating teaching plans, arranging for diagnostic and therapeutic services, and performing miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing, and smelling. Must be able to lift or exert energy up to 50 pounds 25% of the time, 100 pounds 50% of the time, and more than 100 pounds 25% of the time. Close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception are also required.

Mental requirements include reading and interpreting manuals, writing reports, presenting information, performing complex math functions, defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, drawing conclusions, dealing with concrete and abstract concepts, and interpreting instructions.

This position primarily interacts with all age groups and provides direct patient care. All staff members must demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to meet the physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related needs of the persons in the assigned work area.

Minimum requirements include graduation from an accredited school of nursing, a Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred, current RN license in South Carolina or compact state, 2 years RN experience, current AHA BLS certification, ACLS for critical care areas, and PALS for critical care and mother/baby areas.
