Role Description The Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) will provide high-quality flight and ground instruction to student and licensed pilots, with a focus on safety, proficiency, and professional airmanship. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting pre-flight briefings, flight lessons, and post-flight debriefings, as well as teaching fundamentals of aerodynamics, regulations, navigation, and aircraft systems in accordance with FAA standards and company procedures. The CFI will support student progress tracking, maintain accurate training and aircraft records, and participate in safety meetings, standardization activities, and community outreach as needed. This is a full-time, on-site role located in the Greater Watertown–Fort Drum Area, working closely with the local aviation community, aircraft owners, and staff to promote a disciplined, safety-oriented training environment. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong piloting and aviation skills, including demonstrated experience in general aviation operations and flight instruction. Candidates should possess an Instrument Rating and the ability to teach instrument procedures and foundational instrument skills to students. Candidates should possess Commercial Piloting experience and qualifications appropriate for providing professional-level flight training. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Flight Safety principles and practices, including risk management, standard operating procedures, and adherence to FAA regulations. Valid FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate; CFII and/or MEI highly beneficial. Strong communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to instruct learners at different experience levels in a clear, patient, and structured manner. Ability to work in a disciplined, safety-focused environment and collaborate effectively with students, staff, and the broader aviation community.
