Summary: Merle Norman Cosmetics is a Company that manufactures a full line of skin care, color and makeup products. The Accountant is responsible for the processing of accounting transactions. This position is responsible for insuring that accounting transactions are properly supported and documented. The Accountant plays an important role in the month-end financial close process including entering adjusting entries, reconciling general ledger accounts and analyzing financial results. Must be a self-starter and quick learner and have the ability to work independently. Must feel comfortable working in an environment with changing priorities and processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Please note that the following description is not meant to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities but to highlight some key ones) ? Prepare and enter adjusting journal entries ? Prepare reconciliations on general ledger accounts ? Analyze various balance sheet and income statement accounts ? Assist other departments of the Company with processing of accounting transactions ? Run various accounting reports as needed to assist in analysis ? Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial statements ? Assist with the annual financial audit of the Company records, preparing needed schedules and analysis ? Insuring that accounting transactions are properly supported and documented and are in compliance with GAAP ? Assist with maintaining the reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to the control accounts in the general ledger, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and Inventory. ? Assist as needed with the preparation of the annual departmental budgets ? Become proficient with the ERP system to insure accounting transactions are processed accurately and in the most efficient manner ? Maintain organized files, both hard and soft copy, so as to facilitate review of information by others in the accounting department when needed ? Assist with special accounting related projects as needed. ? Provide support to the Accounting Supervisor, Controller and CFO as needed or requested ? Any other duties that may be assigned to meet Company goals

The individual must be able to multitask, as well as having the capability of handling several competing deadlines. Must be able to apply analytical reasoning in the processing of transactions. Must be able to understand and feel comfortable working with enterprise resource planning software. Individual must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills along with strong communication and analytical skills. Education/Experience: College degree with a major in accounting or finance. Minimum 2 years prior experience working as an Accountant, preferably with a manufacturing company. Math Ability: Ability to utilize basic arithmetic and some basic algebra and statistics. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent technical skills and general computer skills that include Excel, Word and Outlook. Must be proficient or become proficient in the use of the Company's ERP software. Supervisory Responsibilities: This is not a supervisory position.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $36.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
