This is accomplished by the Business Analyst partnering with business end users, technical teams, vendors, and other stakeholders gathering and documenting business requirements, documenting current and future process flows, creating use cases and test plans, and planning and managing the user acceptance testing effort for that new system or process. The Business Analyst may lead a team of Business Analysts in their role on a project/program to fulfill some of the key accountabilities below. The Business Analyst works closely with the Program/Project Manager and is expected to use independent judgement and exhibit autonomy when performing daily tasks, proactively address problems and issues within their scope of responsibility as well as identify areas for possible improvements.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. To successfully perform the work, you’ll be on-site in our Chicago, IL office anywhere between one to three days a week.How you'll succeedRequirements GatheringCollaborate with stakeholders, including business users, project managers, and developers to gather and document detailed business requirementsConduct interviews, workshops, and brainstorming sessions to elicit requirements, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of business needsAnalyze and validate requirements, ensuring they are feasible and aligned with project objectivesApplies advanced understanding of the business and technology Analyzes policy, program implementation, and customization requirements to meet client needs and expectationsDocumentation of Process FlowsCreate clear and concise process flow diagrams, mapping out current and future state processesIdentify and manage changes to key and non-key controls in project/program scopeIdentify process gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvementCollaborate with stakeholders to validate process flows and ensure accurate representation of business operationsTest Planning and ManagementDevelop comprehensive test plans with test objectives and test cases (including negative test scenarios) based on gathered requirementsCoordinate with technology development teams to ensure appropriate test environments are set up and ready for testing activitiesExecute and manage test activities including test execution, defect management, and reportingCollaborate with stakeholders to perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring alignment with business requirementsProject SupportWork closely with program/project manager(s), providing support throughout each project lifecycle phaseAssist in project planning, tracking progress, and managing project documentationIdentifies and tracks problems – monitors delivery of mitigationProactively addresses problems within the scope of responsibility; escalates items beyond the scopeContribute to project risk and issue managementCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project deliveryCreation and distribution of meeting meetings for meetings you leadProject Planning and Monitoring for BA-related ActivitiesPartner with program/project Manager(s) in developing detailed project plans including timelines, milestones, and resource allocationsCreate a comprehensive plan for business analysis for duration of the projectMonitor project progress against established plans, identify potential risks or issues, and propose mitigation strategiesUses independent judgment and resourcefulness to determine methods and approaches to workAbility to understand and represent issues accurately/clearly to drive efficient decision makingStakeholder Management for BA-related ActivitiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including business units, functional groups, IT departments, and external vendors to ensure clear communication and coordination throughout the projectLiaise with internal and external sources; acts as an integrator across all disciplines Apply advanced understanding of the business and technology Facilitate regular meetings, workshops, and presentations to update stakeholders on activity status, and risk and issue resolutionDocumentation and ReportingCreate comprehensive project documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, and process flowsDevelop and maintain project artifacts, such as the business requirements document (BRD), test plan, and process flowsAssist the program/project manager(s) in preparing status reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate activity status, risk, and issues to senior management and PMO as requestedProcess ImprovementContinuously evaluate and improve project management methodologies, tools, and templates to enhance project efficiency and effectivenessIdentify areas for process optimization and contribute to the development on best practices within the PMOProvide recommendations for streamlining workflows and implementing standardized project management practicesProactively identify opportunities to improve productivity, process and toolsLeadership Display deep business perspective; comprehensive knowledge across a broad scope of areas across multiple lines of business and/or legal entities within the US Region Who you areProven experience as a Business Analyst in a Waterfall or Agile project management environment preferably within the banking or financial services industryMinimum 8 years experiences as a Business Analyst, preferably at a financial institutionStrong understanding of project management principles and methodologiesSkilled in requirements gathering techniques, including interviews, workshops, and documentation analysisSkilled in process flowcharting techniques, including the ability to create clear and detailed process flow diagrams using industry standard toolsExperience leading the test planning and management process including test plan development, test case creation, traceability documentation that all business requirements have been met, coordination of test case execution and defect managementExpert communication and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively engaged with stakeholders at all levelsExpert analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable test cases, project tasks, and deliverablesAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentDetail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and qualityProficient in MS Office Suite and VisioCollege degree requiredFamiliarity with banking operations, banking regulations, and financial systems is preferredExperience leading a team of BAs is a plusExperience with JIRA, Confluence, or other industry-standard test management tools is a plusProfessional certification, such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) is a plusAt CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $75,000 - $105,000K for the Chicago, IL market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
