Teacher Assistant

Position Summary / Job Goals: You will support the delivery of the early childhood curriculum by assisting in the planning and implementation of engaging and effective learning experiences. You will contribute to the academic, social, and emotional development of students, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. You will apply a range of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners and work collaboratively with colleagues across the Lower School to promote high-quality teaching and learning. In line with our vision to create a generation of resilient and creative global citizens, you will support students in developing strong foundational understanding and assist in maintaining accurate and meaningful records of their progress. Qualifications / Training: High school diploma or equivalent required Training in effective instructional methods preferred Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development Experience / Knowledge: At least one year of experience working with children Demonstrates understanding of early childhood development and learning practices Strong cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills to engage effectively with a diverse community Ability to support student progress through observation, feedback, and record-keeping Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Results-oriented with the ability to align work to defined goals and expectations Commitment to working in a purpose-led educational environment Attributes: Collaborative team player who contributes positively to the school community Takes ownership and pride in their work and relationships Demonstrates resilience, professionalism, and sound judgment Maintains high standards of quality and consistently meets expectations Self-aware, reflective, and open to feedback Strong listener who communicates with clarity and empathy Remains calm and solution-focused in a dynamic environment Proactive and adaptable, with a willingness to improve and innovate Reports to / Evaluated by: Director of Lower School. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Learning and Teaching: Support the planning and delivery of the daily instructional program under the direction of the Lead Teacher Work with individual students, small groups, and whole-class settings to support learning Assist in monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate student records Support the social, emotional, and cognitive development of students Supervise the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher Supervise students in non-classroom settings, including playground and transitions Planning and Preparation: Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing and delivering lessons that build knowledge and skills in a structured and progressive manner Support the preparation of instructional materials, learning centers, and classroom displays Learning Environment and Operations: Assist in creating and maintaining a positive, organized, and engaging learning environment Prepare materials and resources required for lessons and activities Support general classroom organization and housekeeping responsibilities Collaboration and Professional Practice: Maintain professional and respectful working relationships with colleagues Treat all students with dignity, respect, and care Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities Contribute to a collaborative team culture where all members feel supported and valued Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff School Culture and Expectations: Support a positive school culture aligned with the values and mission of the school Model professionalism in attendance, punctuality, and presentation Contribute to a shared understanding of learning goals across grade levels Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or school leadership Village Believes that Effective Employees are: Accountable - Establishes a high performing culture and accepts accountability for organizational performance.
