Volt is immediately hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer in San Diego, CA - Chula Vista.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes, procedures, and workflows to support production operations.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support to manufacturing teams to ensure efficient, safe, and quality-driven production.
• Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, and eliminate waste.
• Design, develop, and implement manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and equipment improvements.
• Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, manufacturing routings, and standard operating procedures.
• Support new product introductions and production readiness activities by developing manufacturing plans and processes.
• Collaborate with production, quality, supply chain, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
• Investigate manufacturing issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor production performance and recommend process improvements to meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support process validation, capacity planning, and line balancing activities.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and operational procedures.
• Assist with implementation of best practices to improve overall manufacturing efficiency and performance.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

This is a full-time opportunity. 5 days a week. 8+ hours per day.

The ideal candidate will have:Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing and production operations.
• Experience developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, production workflows, and process optimization.
• Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems.
• Experience supporting assembly, machining, fabrication, or complex manufacturing operations.
• Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), PFMEA, and process validation activities.
• Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday | 1st Shift

Pay Rate:

$65.00 - $75.00 per hour

Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
