Accounting & Finance Clerk

Metro Lutheran Ministry seeks a dynamic, detail-oriented individual team member to serve as Finance Clerk, supporting the finance and administration team. This role is responsible for performing accounting functions related to daily operations of the organization, payables, and maintenance of general ledger accounts. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and comfortable handling finance and administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment. This is a part-time position.

Job Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred Experience: Three to five years of experience with accounts payable, general ledger, bookkeeping, and month-end close duties. Experience with nonprofit accounting. Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills. Attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to work in a team setting. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and general accounting software. Experience with Financial Edge (Blackbaud) is a plus. Cultural sensitivity and competency, supreme attention to confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Record all payables and revenue in Financial Edge
• Prepare payables copies for filing
• Process W-9 TIN verifications for vendor payments
• Prepare bank reconciliations for all accounts
• Prepare semi-monthly and monthly journal entries related to payroll, benefits, depreciation, in-kind inventory estimate, pre-paids, and insurance allocations
• Prepare & maintain monthly spreadsheets related to depreciation, employee benefits, insurance allocations
• Prepare monthly income and expense reports as requested by Leadership
• Assist with preparation for annual audit & 990
• Prepare weekly documentation/make copies for grant invoicing from payables for Leadership
• 1099 preparation
• Perform other duties as assigned

Compensation & Schedule: This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position, compensated at a rate of $20-$30/hour, DOQ. Anticipated schedule is 20 hours per week, but with potential for increased hours during peak audit season. Schedule is flexible, ideally M/T/W or T/W/Th. Part-time employees working 20 hours per week or more are eligible for employer paid short & long term disability and 10 hours per year accrued PTO.
