Job Description

The Formulation Manufacturing Technician plays a key role in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical assemblies in a regulated GMP environment. This role focuses on preparing solutions and production materials, performing a variety of manufacturing tasks, and supporting the Formulation Department in the production of advanced drug-device combination products.

Responsibilities

• Perform setup, verification, and teardown of manufacturing equipment before and after processing to ensure accurate and efficient production.
• Prepare solutions and production materials according to established procedures and specifications for the Formulation Department.
• Carry out manufacturing tasks including fabrication, in-process testing, and packaging of pharmaceutical assemblies.
• Accurately document all production activities in manufacturing lot history records and other required documentation.
• Clean and maintain production equipment and the production area to meet cleanliness and compliance standards.
• Utilize pipettes and micro weighing equipment to handle precise measurements of materials and solutions.
• Perform analysis of production and test data as needed to support process control and product quality.
• Formulate polymers and spray coating solutions in accordance with defined formulations and process instructions.
• Set up coating machines, perform coating operations, and inspect and fold balloon catheters to meet quality and performance requirements.
• Prepare excipient formulations and spray coating formulations used in the manufacturing process.
• Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with GMP requirements, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and aseptic techniques.
• Follow sanitization procedures and cleanroom protocols to maintain a controlled manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing, specifically supporting formulation activities.
• Hands-on experience working in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with aseptic techniques and aseptic handling of materials in a cleanroom setting.
• Ability to follow and apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) consistently.
• Experience with packaging and sanitization processes in a cleanroom or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to use pipettes and micro weighing equipment with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document production activities clearly and accurately.
• Capability to perform basic data analysis related to manufacturing and in-process testing.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in assembly work within medical device, pharmaceutical, laboratory, or chemical environments.
• Experience working in cleanroom manufacturing operations.
• Familiarity with fabrication processes for medical devices or pharmaceutical products.
• Understanding of polymer formulation and spray coating processes.
• Comfort working with balloon catheters or similar medical device components.
• Ability to work on either early morning or afternoon/evening shifts with some Saturday work as needed.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production setting.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cleanroom manufacturing environment focused on pharmaceutical and medical device production. You will work with specialized equipment such as coating machines, pipettes, and micro weighing instruments, and follow strict GMP, SOP, aseptic, and sanitization procedures. The position offers openings on a first shift (approximately 2:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with some Saturdays as needed) and a second shift (approximately 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with some Saturdays as needed). Both shifts include an orientation during the first week, typically 3–4 days starting at 8:00 a.m. The work requires adherence to cleanroom protocols and a professional, production-appropriate attire consistent with controlled manufacturing environments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.20/hr.
