Start Date: November 2, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), every other weekend required, no call

Highlights:

• Specialized care for orthopedic trauma, neurological trauma, general surgery overflow, and traumatic brain injury patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6; candidates must be comfortable managing this patient load
• Epic charting system with Pyxis and SBAR protocols
• Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks available; 36 or 48-hour weekly schedules accepted
• Comprehensive orientation including 12 hours of unit-specific training and 16 hours of organizational education
• Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations as needed

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in ortho, neuro, or trauma settings
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Must be comfortable with patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Competency with central lines, chest tubes, heparin drips, colostomy care, wound management, tracheostomy care, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with blood product administration, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and isolation precautions
• First-time travelers accepted

Patient Population:

• Severe injuries to bones, joints, and soft tissue
• Traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries
• Subdural hematomas and neurological trauma
• General surgery overflow patients
• Post-neurosurgery and orthopedic trauma cases

Important Notes:

• Requested time off (RTO) after booking is not permitted and cannot be adjusted onsite
• Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed during contract; no RTO permitted during first week or on major holidays
• Every other weekend required; must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events
• EKG testing must be passed prior to start date
• Pre-start online modules (approximately 8-10 hours) must be completed before start date
• Scrubs: Navy or white
