You would join about 600 teammates across DC, MD, PA, and WV who empower youth and their families to flourish within their community.What does this job do specifically?Position Summary:The Staff Accountant Payroll and Benefits Specialist (SAPBS) will support finance operations. The Staff Accountant Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be an integral part of the Finance team. The SAPBS will be responsible for managing key areas, such as payroll management, healthcare benefits, retirement programs, bonuses, and collaborating with the health insurance broker. Additionally, the SAPBS will work on ad-hoc Finance projects, ensuring efficient operations and alignment with organizational goals.Essential Functions:Approaches concerns, challenges, and opportunities with empathy, attention to detail, active listening, and curiosity.Consistently models EVERSTAND's core values: Safety, Empathy, Relationships, and Impact.Honor differences, acknowledge uniqueness, and amplify all voices.Collaborate with developing training and group experiences that strengthen Everstand's commitment to staff wellness and belonging.Models the use of welcoming and respectful language.Consistently uses inclusive language in communication and documentation.Accurately process payroll to ensure all employees are compensated on time and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Collaborate with HR and finance to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.Payroll Data Analysis: Analyze Payroll data and provide insights that drive operational improvement.Proper recording of Payroll Journal Entries in SAGE (Proper GL, Cost centers, and grants)Healthcare Benefits ManagementAdminister and coordinate employee healthcare plans, including medical, dental, vision, and flexible spending accounts (FSA), ensuring accurate enrollment and addressing any benefit-related inquiries.Analysis of Healthcare plans & ReportingMaintain strict compliance with Affordable Care Act (ACA) Requirements, including ensuring accurate and timely annual reporting through ADP.Work closely with Everstand's health insurance broker (PSA), addressing inquiries regarding benefit plans, eligibility, enrollment, and policies.Evaluate and implement recommendations or changes to health insurance plans that best meet the organization's needs.Follow HIPAA, State Regulations and organizational policies regarding data handling and communication.Maintain Strict confidentiality in handling sensitive informationEnsure Timely, confidential, and professional communication with team members and supervisors.Required Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Previous experience in payroll management, benefits administration, and financial reporting.Familiarity with accounting softwareStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Strong communication skills for effectively working with team members and external partners.Experience using modern payroll and financial software systems.Experience with ADP & Sage required.What does the benefits package look like?Generous Paid Time Off : Accrue three (3) weeks of vacation annually, plus two floating holidays and 10 paid company holidays each year—providing 30+ days of paid time off.Paid Leave: Paid sick leave and bereavement leave.Comprehensive Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance with eligibility beginning on your first day of employment.FREE Employee Health Insurance : Everstand provides employee-only medical coverage at no cost through Allied Health.Retirement Savings: Retirement plan with an employer match of up to 3%.Tuition Reimbursement: Eligible after three months of employment, with reimbursement of up to $5,000 annually for approved educational expenses.Additional Benefits: Access to a variety of voluntary and employer-sponsored benefit programs designed to support your financial, personal, and professional well-being.This job description is a general outline of the duties and requirements involved in this role.
