This opportunity seeks a licensed pharmacist to provide expert medication management and patient care within a long-term care (LTC) and mail order pharmacy environment. The role offers a contract-to-hire arrangement over approximately 26 weeks, with the potential for permanent placement.

Location: Irwin, PA
Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, rotating day shifts (8:00 am – 4:30 pm; 9:00 am – 5:30 pm)
• Every other weekend (9:00 am – 5:30 pm)

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately accept, dispense, and monitor prescription medications while ensuring compliance with legal regulations
• Assess patient medication use to identify compliance issues and appropriate prescribing
• Maintain and manage confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation with precision
• Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications, covering dosage, side effects, storage, and interactions
• Educate patients on medical device usage, including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
• Offer clinical services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
• Compound medications, including sterile solutions, following established protocols
• Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks, ensuring efficient workflow
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to resolve drug-related problems and optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain proper pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid Pennsylvania pharmacist license required
• Prior experience in long-term care or mail order pharmacy settings preferred
• Sterile compounding experience is a significant advantage
• Strong communication and supervisory skills with a dedication to patient care and safety
