Senior EstimatorThe Senior Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and competitive project estimates that support AMCON's business objectives and position projects for successful execution. This role works closely with the Preconstruction, Operations, and Field teams to evaluate project opportunities, develop budgets, establish schedules, identify risks, and prepare comprehensive cost estimates throughout the preconstruction process.The Senior Estimator will coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather information, solicit pricing, and ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule. In addition, this role leads complex estimating efforts, mentors Estimators and Assistant Estimators, supports business development initiatives, and helps establish estimating best practices across the organization. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, effective communicator, and proven leader who can manage multiple priorities while driving collaboration and continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesLead conceptual, schematic, design development, and final construction estimates for complex projects.Review plans, specifications, and project documents to determine project scope, risks, and requirements.Perform quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, and constructability reviews.Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.Identify project risks, opportunities, logistics challenges, and value engineering alternatives.Develop project budgets, schedules, and pricing strategies throughout all phases of design.Collaborate with Project Teams to develop project strategies and execution plans.Lead estimate reviews, bid presentations, and project turnover meetings.Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and design teams.Mentor, train, and support Estimators and Assistant Estimators.Support business development, proposal efforts, and client presentations.Promote and maintain estimating standards, processes, and software tools.QualificationsBachelor 's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.Experience estimating ground-up, core and shell, fit-out, and renovation projects preferred.Strong understanding of construction means, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost management.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Experience preparing conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and value engineering analyses.Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and construction technology platforms.Success MeasuresAccuracy and completeness of estimates and budgets.Timely completion of estimating milestones and bid deadlines.Quality of subcontractor and vendor engagement.Effective mentorship and development of estimating staff.Strong collaboration with project teams, clients, and design partners.Contribution to successful project pursuits and smooth project turnover to Operations.Identification and management of project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
