Registered Nurse - Preop/PACU Mainland Campus - Per Diem

$52 per hour

Registered Nurse – Preop/PACU Mainland Campus – Per Diem Position Summary The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working collaboratively with physicians. The RN utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification to provide culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The RN is responsible for coordinating the interdisciplinary care plan, ensuring consistency with the medical treatment plan, and performing the following tasks: Assessment – identification, gathering, and organization of subjective and objective patient data. Planning – identification of actual or potential problems, desired outcomes, and documented care plans. Intervention – implementation of specific interventions or orders consistent with the plan of care. Evaluation – determination of intervention effectiveness and documentation of required actions. Limited Laboratory Services – patient identification, specimen collection, sample processing, quality control, instrument maintenance, monitoring, reporting of test results, and maintaining competency/certification. Education – providing culturally appropriate patient education and promoting patient empowerment. The RN actively supports performance improvement initiatives, provides leadership to the patient‑care team, and participates in ongoing professional development. Qualifications Education / License: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or a current multi‑state license is required. BLS required. Valid NJ driver’s license required for Adult and Child Partial Programs. Experience: Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at the time of hire; incumbents will receive training and must demonstrate skill within 30‑60 days of hire. Specialty Experience and Certifications Emergency Room – City Campus 2‑4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 2 years emergency room experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of initial assignment and continuously maintained thereafter. After 24 months: completion of ATCN or TNCC required. Minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic trauma assessment, intervention, and stabilization. Minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic stroke assessment, intervention, and NIHSS. Emergency Room – Mainland Campus 2‑4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 2 years emergency room experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of initial assignment. After 24 months: completion of ATCN or TNCC required. Minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic trauma assessment, intervention, and stabilization. Minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic stroke assessment, intervention, and NIHSS. Labor and Delivery 2‑4 years labor and delivery experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. NRP (NALS) required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit / Intermediate Care Unit 2‑4 years neonatal ICU experience preferred. NRP (NALS) required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Mother/Baby Unit (OB) 2‑4 years mother/baby experience preferred. NRP (NALS) required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Perinatology 3 years labor and delivery experience preferred. OB certification required. Operating Room 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience desired; 1‑2 years operating room experience preferred. CNOR preferred. ACLS preferred. Critical Care (ICU) 2‑4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1‑2 years critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 1 year of hire or transfer. CCRN preferred. Medical/Surgical – 3 Pines / 3 Central 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred. ACLS required for all employees hired after Feb 18, 2020; existing employees required ACLS by Dec 31, 2021. Incumbents hired after Dec 31, 2021, have 6 months to obtain ACLS. Medical/Surgical – (various locations) 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred. ACLS required within one year of hire or transfer. Dialysis – (renal, acute) 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1‑2 years dialysis experience preferred. ACLS required within one year of hire or transfer. Psychiatry – (1 West 1 Pines) 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1‑2 years psychiatry experience preferred. Crisis Prevention & Intervention education required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Psychiatry – PIP Screener 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 3 years psychiatry experience (incl. crisis setting) required. Current NJ State Certification as a Mental Health Screener required. Valid New Jersey driver’s license required with MVA check upon hire or transfer. Pediatrics 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1‑2 years pediatric experience strongly preferred. PALS required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Radiology – (radiology admin) 2‑4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1‑2 interventional experience preferred. ACLS and PALS required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Cath Lab – (cath lab, EP) 1‑2 years critical care, emergency room or telemetry experience preferred; 1 year cath‑lab experience preferred. ACLS required. Trauma ICU 1 year trauma experience required; 2 years preferred. ACLS required at time of hire; PALS & ATCN required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Oncology – (1 south/1 Meadow) 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; chemotherapy experience preferred. ACLS required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Chemotherapy certification preferred. Endoscopy Minimum 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1‑2 years endoscopy, telemetry, and critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. PALS, CCRN, and CGRN preferred. Cardiac Diagnostic 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1‑2 years critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Cardiovascular ICU (CVU) 2‑4 years critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 1 year of hire or transfer. CCRN preferred. Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU) 2‑5 years telemetry experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Progressive Care Unit (PCU) 2‑5 years telemetry experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Telemetry – (2West/2 Pines, 6 Harmony) 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred. ACLS required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Radiation Oncology Oncology experience 1‑3 years preferred; OCN preferred. Medical Oncology Infusion Services 1‑3 years oncology experience preferred. ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Competency Provider required within 6 months of hire or transfer. OCN preferred. PACU/SDS 1‑3 years critical care or PACU experience required. ACLS required; PALS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Pre‑Admission Testing (PAT) 1‑3 years medical/surgical experience preferred. Acute Partial/Child Adolescent Program 1 year experience in behavioral health setting. Crisis intervention prevention preferred. Bloodless Surgery 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred. Wound Care Outpatient 1‑2 years medical/surgical experience preferred. Wound Care and HBO Training HOA training course required within 1 year of hire or transfer. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Hammonton Satellite Emergency Department 2‑4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 2 years emergency room experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of initial assignment. Minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic trauma assessment, intervention, and stabilization. Minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic stroke assessment, intervention, and NIHSS. Performance Expectations Demonstrates the ability to perform the department‑specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Work Environment Potential exposure to hospital hazards and risks, including blood‑borne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Required tasks include reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking (including stairs), lifting 25‑50 pounds frequently and 50‑100 pounds occasionally, and moving heavy equipment. Unit Populations Served Bariatric morbid obese adults with comorbid illnesses (cardio, metabolic, renal, pulmonary, etc.). Cath Lab patients with cardiac/vascular conditions (CAD, carotid stenosis, renal stenosis, PVD, etc.). Critical Care patients undergoing acute medical/surgical care of skeletal muscular, renal, orthoconditions, AMI, CAD, PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, shock, renal failure, etc. Behavioral health patients (bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, psychosis). Dialysis patients with acute or chronic renal failure or chronic renal disease. Endoscopy patients requiring chronic pain management, GI, pulmonary conditions, etc. Emergency Department triage for all age groups presenting for emergency care for all body systems. Intermediate Care post‑surgical patients (neuro, GI, GU/GYN, peripheral vascular interventions, orthopedic procedures). Medical Surgical patients (orthopedic, neuro, GI, GU/GYN, renal, metabolic, pulmonary, isolation precautions). Telemetry and Stroke patients (cardiac/cardiovascular, neuro, GI, renal, etc.). Wound Care / Ostomy diversion surgeries, wound care, pressure sore/ulcer. Structural Heart adults with coronary, PAD, heart failure, lung disease, obesity, diabetes, arrhythmias. Reporting Relationship This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
