Step into a meaningful role as a Sign Language Interpreter providing dedicated 1:1 support in an elementary educational setting. This full-time contract opportunity runs from now through May 28, 2027, offering you the chance to make a direct impact on a student’s daily educational experience.

Located in the Huntsville area, this assignment is based at Chaffee Elementary School and requires a committed professional to work school hours, Monday through Friday (8:00 AM – 2:30 PM), fully aligned with the academic calendar. Your expertise in sign language interpretation will enable access and participation for one student throughout their school day, making collaboration and communication keys to your success.

Ideal candidates possess:

• A current Alabama SLI/Interpreter license or permit (required).
• Recognized interpreting certification (RID, EIPA, BEI, or similar) strongly preferred.
• Prior school-based sign language interpreting experience highly desirable.
• Proven background in 1:1 student support considered an advantage.
• Consistent, reliable attendance and strong professional commitment.
• Ability to adhere strictly to the full school-day schedule, as modifications for arrivals/departures cannot be accommodated.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing comprehensive 1:1 sign language interpretation for a student during all instructional and school-related activities.
• Working seamlessly within the school’s multidisciplinary team, supporting an inclusive, communicative atmosphere.
• Maintaining strict confidentiality and upholding all professional and ethical standards.
• Participating in relevant meetings as needed and contributing to student progress.
