Registered Nurse (RN) - Psychiatric Emergency Room

The Registered Nurse in a Psychiatric Emergency Room is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients experiencing mental health crises. Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting intake assessments through interviews with patients and their relatives to gather relevant case history.
• Planning and delivering nursing care tailored to the individual needs of patients.
• Making nursing diagnoses regarding the medical and emotional status of patients and recommending suitable treatment options.
• Consulting with psychiatrists and other behavioral health professionals to formulate appropriate treatment plans.
• Administering psychotropic medications while monitoring and documenting patient reactions.
• Facilitating further medical attention when necessary.
• Assisting clients in understanding their emotional disturbances and the importance of treatment acceptance.
• Maintaining a safe and secure environment for both staff and patients.
• Assessing vital signs and managing pain relief treatments.
• Documenting all patient-related information on medical charts in accordance with physician orders.
• Ensuring patient confidentiality and adherence to legal and ethical standards.
• Maintaining accurate records of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results.
• Performing administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, and completing progress notes in the computer system.
• Providing courteous and high-quality service to patients and the public by responding to service requests or making appropriate referrals.

This position requires a commitment of 48 hours per week, with shifts scheduled for straight nights, including holidays and on-call duties as required.
