Experience: Minimum of 2 years Med/Tele RN experience preferred. First-time travelers will be considered.
License: Valid RN license
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have: General Med/Tele skill set, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pumps, and medication administration including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids.

Description:
Seeking an experienced MedSurg/Tele RN.
The facility is a Level I Trauma Teaching Client with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center.
The nursing unit consists of multiple MedSurg and MedTele units.
The primary focus is on decompressing the emergency department and other specialty areas within the hospital.
Common patient demographics include adults and geriatrics.
Common diagnoses managed include COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, fall with injuries, MVC with injuries, pulmonary embolism, DVT, UTI, pneumothorax, GI bleeds, and CVA.
Patient ratios vary by unit, with a typical staffing of 1:4 to 1:6, acuity dependent.
Support within the department includes CNAs for basic patient care and a secretary for administrative tasks.
There is a resource nurse available on long-term contracts to assist with patient care.
Telemetry monitoring is conducted by nurses on each unit, with charge nurses also assisting with monitoring.
Technology utilized includes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems.
Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice.
Weekend rotation and holiday expectations are part of the schedule.
RTO requests can be approved up to 6 days off, excluding holidays.
The unit culture emphasizes teamwork and a family-like environment.
