As a Traffic Producer, you’ll provide information to reporters to enable them to deliver fast, accurate, and engaging traffic updates that help viewers navigate their day. This role blends production savvy and storytelling to keep audiences informed and connected. Ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom and knows how to turn data into compelling, real-time coverage.What You'll Do:Undertake key administrative responsibilities as well as assist in planning and producing live and/or pre-recorded radio shows which may include news, music, talk, sports, traffic, and feature productionsGenerate original ideas, identifie suitable ideas from others, and carry out thorough researchResearch information, obtain materials and assist with contacting and scheduling guestsGive direction to presenters, content providers, assistants and other crew membersMonitor listener emails, inquiries and responses related to showsWork in collaboration with presenters, performers or other program contributors, in order to perform quality assurance to meet established production standards, rules and regulationsWhat You'll Need:Experience as a Radio Producer and/or AssistantExcellent writing and storytelling skills, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to tailor and adapt content for different audiences and platformsAbility to generate original ideas, and to think creatively about how to communicate them to different audiences; has comprehensive knowledge of news and weatherFlexibility to work morning and evening or weekend different hours as the work schedule changes frequently and with short noticeAbility to build rapport and draw information from peopleCan coach and develop othersConfidence and tenacity to pursue information, overcome obstacles and pitch ideas to senior colleaguesStress tolerance: ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, and to react quickly to changesAbility to plan and organize, set priorities, multi-task and meet tight deadlinesFull knowledge of the law, rules and industry regulations around radio production, know when it’s necessary, and how to acquire relevant clearances and licensesProficiency in Microsoft Office suite and social networking platformsFour-year college degree, preferably in Radio or Media Production or the equivalent work experienceWhat You'll Bring:Respect for others and a strong belief that others should do this in returnAbility to work within prescribed guidelines without needing close supervisionProblem solving skills within established proceduresUnderstanding of when to seek guidance for unforeseen problemsClose attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to act in a professional manner and collaborate with colleagues of different levelsCompensation:Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data.$17.76 - $22.20Location:Chicago, IL: 233 N.
