Benefits Coordinator-Intermediate (CBH MDC)

Under general supervision, responsible for providing customer service to patients by scheduling appointments, performing check‑in and check‑out procedures, verifying insurance benefits and obtaining authorization, and providing telephone triage. Responsibilities Verify and/or obtain all benefits insurance information for patients. Obtain authorizations and referrals. Assist in the collection of copays and existing balances due; assist with financial counseling as needed. Serve as an insurance resource for all clinic staff; remain up to date on all insurance issues. Handle and answer all phone calls and transfer calls to the appropriate departments as needed. Manage patient appointments according to the physician's schedules and/or protocols. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Demonstrate the ability to support the mission, vision and patient promise throughout all interactions with the UT Health Way. Demonstrate analytical thinking; analyze information and use logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner. Demonstrate creativity and alternative thinking; develop new ideas supportive of the UT Health Way. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office and database programs. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Education High school diploma or GED is required.
