Regional Medical Director Of Ambulatory Clinical Operations
Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, the Regional Medical Director of Ambulatory Clinical Operations is responsible for clinical leadership, provider performance, quality outcomes, and operational partnership of multisite ambulatory medical practice. The Regional Medical Director of Ambulatory Clinical Operations serves as the physician leader and dyad partner to ambulatory operations leadership, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered, scalable, and value-based care across all assigned practice sites.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as the physician leader for assigned ambulatory practice sites and provider teams.
- Establish and maintain clinical standards, evidence-based practice, and consistency of care delivery across locations.
- Provide oversight, mentorship, coaching, and professional development for physicians and physician assistants.
- Promote a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and patient-centered care.
- Support provider onboarding, orientation, engagement, and retention initiatives.
- Serve as a clinical resource and escalation point for providers and interdisciplinary teams.
- Partner with operational leadership to ensure alignment between clinical goals and operational execution.
- Participate in organizational committees and leadership activities as designated by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Provide direct oversight of physician and physician assistant performance across assigned sites.
- Lead provider performance management, peer review, professional practice evaluations, and corrective action processes when appropriate.
- Support recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and succession planning efforts.
- Collaborate on provider staffing models, coverage planning, and workforce optimization.
- Promote standardization of provider workflows, documentation practices, and clinical operations.
- Foster physician engagement and leadership development across the organization.
- Support development of future physicians and APP leaders.
- Drive performance on clinical quality, population health, utilization, and patient experience metrics.
- Partner with operational and nursing leadership to improve outcomes for high-risk and complex populations.
- Support care gap closure, preventive care initiatives, and chronic disease management programs.
- Utilize clinical and operational data to identify performance opportunities and implement improvement plans.
- Promote appropriate resource utilization and evidence-based decision-making.
- Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and performance improvement activities.
- Support organizational readiness for quality, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Serve as the clinical co-leader of the ambulatory practice in partnership with the Operations leader.
- Jointly own provider experience, patient access, operational efficiency, quality outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
- Collaborate on ambulatory workflow redesign, access initiatives, and practice transformation efforts.
- Support standardization and scalability across multisite operations.
- Participate in regular operational reviews, performance management meetings, and strategic planning activities.
- Assist in identifying operational barriers that affect patient care and provider effectiveness.
- Champion organizational initiatives and lead provider adoption of change.
- Build effective partnerships with nursing leadership, ambulatory operations, practice administration, quality, and care management teams.
- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and communication across sites and departments.
- Support implementation of clinical and operational initiatives through physician engagement and leadership.
- Serve as a liaison between providers and executive leadership.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Lead change management efforts related to clinical transformation, ambulatory growth, and value-based care initiatives.
- Support implementation of new workflows, technologies, and operational improvements.
- Utilize data and performance metrics to guide decision-making and organizational improvement.
- Drive consistency, accountability, and adoption of best practices across the provider enterprise.
- Contribute to strategic planning and organizational growth initiatives.
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00AM 5:00PM

Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of medicine
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
- Board Certification or experience in Geriatric Medicine preferred.
- Residency in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or fellowship or experience in Geriatrics.
Experience:
- Minimum of (3+) years of staff supervision experience preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience in value-based organizations, advanced primary care, startups or managed care.
- Experience managing providers groups.
- Sensitivity to operations
- Compassionate, relationship-based and mission driven.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with a frail or elderly population or, if the individual has less than one (1) year of experience but meets all other requirements, must receive appropriate training from the PACE organization on working with a frail or elderly population upon hiring.
License: Current active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York State.
Additional Requirements:
- Be legally authorized (for example, currently licensed, registered, or certified if applicable) to practice in the State in which the healthcare professional will perform the function.
- Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact.
- Must have a Medicaid Provider ID and a Medicare Provider ID in good standing.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing Duration of up to 6 hours a day.
- Sitting/Stationary Positions Sedentary position in duration of up to 6-8 hours a day for consecutive hours/periods.
- Lifting/Push/Pull Up to 50 pounds of equipment, baggage, supplies, and ability to lift patients safely and using OSHA guidelines, etc.
- Bending/Squatting Must be able to safely bend or squat to care for patients, use medical supplies, etc.
- Stairs/Steps/Walking/Climbing Must be able to safely maneuver stairs, climb up/down, and walk to access work areas Position requires the individual to be able to travel, and walk between sites/locations and work areas throughout the day.
- Agility/Fine Motor Skills - Must demonstrate agility and fine motor skills to operate and activate equipment, devices, instruments, and tools (ie. typing, use of medical supplies, equipment, etc.)
- Sight/Visual Requirements Must be able to visually assess patients, read orders type/write documentation, etc. with accuracy.
- Audio Hearing and Motor Skills (Language) Requirements Must be able to listen attentively and document information from patients, community members, providers, etc., and intake information through audio processing with accuracy. In addition, must be able to speak comfortably and clearly with language motor skills for customers to understand the individual.
- Cognitive Ability Must be able to demonstrate good decision-making, reasonableness, cognitive ability, rational processing, and analysis to satisfy essential functions of the job.
