Assistant Chemist I - 3rd shift, Tues - Sun - Columbus Plant

Abbott seeks an Assistant Chemist I for third-shift operations at its Columbus nutrition manufacturing facility. The role involves performing analytical testing on nutritional products using multiple laboratory techniques and supporting quality compliance activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform analytical testing including vitamin, protein, mineral, fat, and fatty acid analysis using specialized instrumentation
- Conduct ingredient analysis via titrations, moisture testing, and organoleptic assessments
- Execute allergen testing and quality control sample analysis per established methods
- Train new laboratory hires on analytical procedures and support day-to-day operations
- Support compliance activities including laboratory investigations and non-conformance documentation
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year college science and 1 year college mathematics
- 3+ years laboratory experience
- Knowledge of HPLC, GC, ICP, titration, and pH testing instrumentation
- Basic understanding of infant formula and nutritional regulatory standards
- Ability to lift and push 20-25 lbs regularly
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
