Powerhouse Engineer, Boiler Operator - 3rd shift - Columbus Plant

Abbott seeks a Powerhouse Engineer/Boiler Operator for third-shift operations at its Columbus manufacturing plant. The role combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction to develop expertise in energy center systems, with the goal of qualifying candidates for Ohio's 3rd Class Stationary Engineer license.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain energy center systems including boilers, steam, chilled water, and compressed air equipment
• Monitor process deviations and execute preventative and demand maintenance tasks
• Complete classroom training and on-the-job training to earn boiler operating hours toward Ohio exam
• Maintain hand tools and equipment; document work orders and labor hours in Maximo CMMS system
• Ensure compliance with LOTO procedures, GMP standards, FDA, USDA, and OSHA regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED plus two-year technical degree or equivalent experience
• Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer (SSE) license
• Strong mathematics, written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical troubleshooting ability and capacity to learn complex technical processes
• Knowledge of FDA regulations, cGMP, or regulated industry experience preferred
• Manufacturing plant environment experience preferred
