Accounting Manager (Contract, Rocket Travel by Agoda) Chicago, IL About Rocket Travel by Agoda Rocket Travel by Agoda is a travel technology company founded in 2012, partnering with leading consumer travel brands to provide white‑label solutions that enable miles and points redemption for hotels, car rentals, flights, and activities. The team includes developers, designers, marketers, analysts, and accounting professionals. Responsibilities Oversee the monthly and year‑end close process. Review closing entries and the close task list accurately and timely. Perform high‑level review of B/S and P/L accounts with the Controller to ensure financial statement completeness and accuracy. Manage monthly account reconciliation process for balance‑sheet accounts and related journal entries. Assist the Risk & Controls Manager in implementing SOX readiness plans and documenting procedures. Help with Salesforce Optimization by implementing best practices and metrics. Review and approve journal entries submitted by team members to ensure accurate recording. Oversee AP processing and reconciling invoices, ensuring timely payments. Support treasury activities – review wire/ACH payments, watch templates, and oversee weekly cash reconciliations. Review A/R invoices and account statements to maintain credit & collections policy compliance. Monitor employee expenses and approve reimbursements per expense policy. Manage and develop accounting staff team members. Take ownership and drive results in a small team environment. What You'll Need to Succeed Relevant accounting experience of 5‑8+ years. Business‑related degree with a preference for Accounting; CPA is required. Strong knowledge of Excel and SQL . Familiarity with Oracle and Salesforce . Positive attitude and willingness to collaborate on a small team. Well‑roundedness and attention to detail to quickly pick up duties accurately. Analytic problem‑solving skills and data‑driven recommendation ability. Other Requirements Contract position based in Chicago, IL; hybrid work schedule required (2‑3 days per week in office).
