Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations through preliminary interviews, accurately documenting each case from initial consultation to treatment completion.

• Design and implement individualized treatment and recovery plans tailored to the specific needs of clients, which may include individuals, couples, families, and groups.
\n
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, employing various therapeutic modalities to meet the diverse needs of clients.
\n
• Monitor and evaluate clients' progress throughout their treatment plans, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimum recovery outcomes.
\n
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, primary care physicians, social workers, and other specialists, to coordinate comprehensive care solutions.

• Attend to clients admitted to hospitals by maintaining follow-up communication with medical teams regarding treatment plans.
\n
• Identify and address behaviors that may be hindering a client’s recovery, and implement preventative strategies to mitigate these challenges.

• Support family members and primary caregivers, providing guidance on managing the mental and behavioral health challenges present in their loved ones.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Our clients encompass a wide range of demographics, including children, adolescents, adults, and families facing various mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. As a Mental Health Counselor at Life Matters Counseling Center, you will play a vital role in impacting diverse populations by offering culturally competent care designed to uplift and empower each individual towards better mental health.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.

• Current licensure as an LCMFT, LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW-C in the state of Maryland.

• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) is mandatory.

• Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, to facilitate effective case management.

Preferred Experience\n

• A minimum of two years of experience in a mental health counseling role, with a focus on understanding both physical and emotional health conditions.

• Prior experience working with addiction disorders and knowledge of their implications in therapy.

• Familiarity with practices established by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

• In-depth understanding of psychotropic medications prescribed by healthcare professionals and their potential effects on therapy.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with an aptitude for establishing rapport and trust with clients and families.
