Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their specific psychological needs. Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, providing support for emotional challenges related to aging, such as grief and loss, life transitions, and coping strategies. Collaborate closely with healthcare providers, family members, and caregivers to create and implement personalized care plans that align with the needs and preferences of our older clients. Educate family members and clinical staff on best practices to enhance emotional well-being and quality of life for seniors, facilitating workshops and training sessions when necessary. Lead grief and loss counseling initiatives to support clients and their families during end-of-life transitions, providing compassionate care and guidance. Implement cognitive stimulation programs aimed at enhancing mental acuity among elderly clients, using evidence-based interventions and therapeutic exercises. Patient Population / Client Focus This role centers on a geriatric population, providing tailored mental health services to seniors facing a myriad of challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, and other mental health concerns associated with aging. You will work with a diverse clientele, allowing you to leverage your cultural competency to offer sensitive and effective counseling that respects the varied backgrounds and experiences of our clients. Qualifications A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution. A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification. A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support. Specialization or additional training in aging-related issues is preferred. Demonstrated experience delivering compassionate counseling services to elderly individuals confronting various mental health challenges. Knowledgeable about evidence-based interventions that promote psychological well-being among older adults. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to connect meaningfully with elderly clients. Demonstrated empathy and cultural sensitivity when engaging with older adults from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Experience Experience working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Training in implementing cognitive and behavioral interventions tailored for seniors. Proficiency in telehealth practices, including the use of digital tools for virtual counseling sessions. Compensation and Benefits Antelope Behavioral Health offers a competitive salary range between $65,000 and $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
