General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering quality nursing care, including medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education. This role requires adherence to safety protocols and hospital policies to ensure an optimal and safe environment for patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow established safety measures such as infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications.
• Maintain and care for central lines and prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status and support quality outcomes.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring items to support clinical decision-making.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and families to enhance patient outcomes and experience.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage in continuing education to develop nursing skills and critical thinking.

Education

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.

Experience

One year of nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Certification and Licensure

• Current RN license in the state or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental concentration and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
