Inspector/Sprayer IV - MC

Department: Mosquito Control Department Organizational Unit: Countywide Mosquito Control Position Type: Permanent Full Time Status: Open until filled Compensation: $22.11 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Schedule: South Area/Valkaria/Travels Countywide. Work schedule Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; may include evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime as needed. Responsibilities: Perform skilled technical and skilled service work that may be complex and large in scope. Responsible for projects and tasks and supervision of Mosquito Control employees on those tasks. May act as Mosquito Control Supervisor in their absence. Requirements: Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in mosquito control application. Must include automotive or watercraft operation, documenting service activity, developing and documenting electronic and written records or reports, project or task management experience, and three of the following: aircraft support, construction, heavy equipment operation, equipment repairs, impoundment operations, airboat operations and fogging system operations. Additional education cannot be substituted for application experience. Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License and maintain it during employment. Must possess certification as an Arthropod Control Applicator per Florida Statute 388.361(4). Must have experience identifying mosquitoes and larvae and determining appropriate chemicals. Physically capable of wearing and using respiratory protection at all times. Must have passed the University of Florida Advanced Inspector Sprayer Course. Must be able to work extended hours during peak season, outbreaks, and overtime. May need to pass a respiratory physical for SCBA and be capable of using SCBA. In hurricane or disaster, required to perform emergency duties as directed.
