About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified IMC RN in Asheville, North Carolina, 28801!

• Provide stepdown-level nursing care to a primary population of CV surgery and vascular surgery patients, including those post open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
• Manage overflow medical cardiology patients presenting with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and related diagnoses
• Perform and oversee epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV Glucommander protocols
• Administer and monitor cardiac drips including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Maintain a 1:5 patient ratio in a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit utilizing Cerner EMR and Baxter IV/CADD epidural pumps
• Float as needed to stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units per staffing needs

• Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of experience
• Stepdown experience is required - candidates without this will not be considered
• Telemetry experience is required - candidates without this will not be considered
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Ability to meet weekend requirements: minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday, day or night) per 6-week schedule period
• Flexibility to work holidays

• Prior experience within the past year with CV surgery and vascular surgery populations, including open heart surgery, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass
• CVICU background
• Team-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced clinical environment

• Work in a high-acuity, specialized cardiovascular stepdown unit with a collaborative and well-staffed team environment
• No on-call requirements, offering greater schedule predictability for travel nurses
