Job Title: MIG Welder Job Description
This role focuses on MIG welding various types of steel and alloys to produce high-quality playground equipment. You will work primarily with thinner gauge materials up to 1/8\" thick, requiring precision and attention to detail. Welders use blueprints and fixtures to complete assemblies and may occasionally move fixtures into their welding bay, which involves lifting up to 50 lbs.
Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on a variety of materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, black steel, and alloys, with a strong focus on mild steel work.
• Work primarily with thinner gauge materials up to 1/8\" thick, ensuring clean, precise, and structurally sound welds on more sensitive materials.
• Read and interpret welding blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately to complete projects according to specifications.
• Use welding fixtures to position and secure components, moving fixtures into the welding bay as needed and ensuring proper alignment before welding.
• Lift and maneuver fixtures and materials weighing up to 50 lbs without restrictions to support production needs.
• Measure and fit parts using a tape measure down to 1/32\" accuracy to ensure proper fit-up and assembly prior to welding.
• Perform weld shop duties including fitting, fabrication, and weld finishing as required to meet production standards.
• Utilize MIG welding equipment and, as needed, other processes such as flux core and stick welding to complete assigned tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized welding booth and work area, following safety protocols and best practices at all times.
• Collaborate with production team members to meet quality, safety, and productivity goals within a clean manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of recent experience in MIG welding, or equivalent formal welding schooling.
• Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints, with readiness to complete and pass a blueprint reading test.
• Proficiency in using a tape measure with accuracy to 1/32\".
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs with no restrictions.
• Hands-on MIG welding skills with mild steel and other metals in a production or weld shop setting.
• Experience with fixture welding and working from fabrication blueprints.
• Basic knowledge of flux core and stick welding processes.
• Strong attention to detail when working with thinner gauge materials up to 1/8\" thick.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a welding booth within a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Two-year welding degree or technical diploma in welding (nice to have).
• Experience with pipe welding (nice to have).
• Background in fabrication and weld shop operations.
• Comfort working with a range of materials including stainless steel, aluminum, black steel, and alloys.
• Ability to read and follow detailed fabrication and welding blueprints.
• Strong fitting skills to prepare parts for welding.
• Commitment to quality workmanship and continuous improvement.

Work Environment
The role is based in a very clean production environment designed for safe and efficient welding operations. Welders work in dedicated welding booths equipped for MIG welding and related processes. The setting emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and adherence to safety standards while working with fixtures, thinner gauge materials, and various metals. The broader campus includes multiple buildings, reflecting a stable, well-established manufacturing operation focused on quality and employee well-being.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Delano, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
