Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to obstetric patients across labor, delivery, and postpartal units, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, recognize emergencies, and intervene per established protocols; collaborate with physicians and the care team to ensure safe, evidence-based care.
- Manage labor progression, fetal monitoring interpretation, analgesia/anesthesia coordination, and postpartum care, while prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
- Lead and participate in patient and family education, discharge planning, and care coordination; delegate tasks to appropriate team members and supervise support staff as needed.
- Document accurately in the electronic medical record, maintain current licenses and certifications, and uphold standards of nursing practice and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in committee activities when assigned (e.g., Shared Governance) and model professional behavior, ethics, and teamwork in all interactions.

Requirements
- Current Registered Nursing license in the state of California.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required on hire and every two years; new-to-L&D RNs complete AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring within the first 6–8 months of orientation, then continue with Advanced Fetal Monitoring every two years.
- AHA/ARC-compliant BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications as specified; these must be maintained throughout the assignment.
- Minimum of two years of recent RN experience; obstetrics/L&D experience preferred with LDRP model exposure; EPIC electronic health record experience required.
- No-call availability for the assigned night shifts; ability to work 7:00 PM–7:30 AM and commit to 36 hours per week for 13 weeks.
