Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students in the Hampton Roads area as a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This opportunity is ideal for professionals passionate about working with diverse populations, particularly students presenting with significant behavioral and communication needs. Part-time and full-time schedules are available, with flexibility to accommodate your availability.
In this position, you'll have the chance to collaborate with a dynamic team across several school districts, providing both school-based and home visit services. The organization offers specialized programs in behavioral, autism spectrum, alternative education, and complex health needs—ensuring a comprehensive support network and professional environment focused on student growth.
Qualifications:
- Active or pending Virginia SLP or SLPA license required
- Previous experience in a school setting, particularly with severe behavior disorders and a range of educational placements (from functional to inclusion)
- Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
- Compassion and patience for working with students demonstrating challenging behaviors
- Flexibility to provide services in different school locations and during select home visits
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech and language therapy to students with a variety of severe communication disorders and behavioral needs
- Collaborate with teachers, program staff, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collect and maintain data to monitor student progress and compliance
- Adapt therapeutic interventions for functional and inclusion settings
- Participate in ongoing professional development and program initiatives
