Accounts Payable Clerk

Position Overview The Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for accurately processing, coordinating, and analyzing accounts payable data to ensure timely and compliant payment of vendor invoices and expense reports. This role supports day‑to‑day accounting operations by maintaining detailed records, resolving discrepancies, and assisting internal and external stakeholders with accounts payable inquiries. Responsibilities Process high‑volume invoices through the full payment cycle in a timely and accurate manner. Review and verify invoice details, including pricing, quantities, tax treatment, and payment terms. Perform three‑way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documents. Investigate and resolve discrepancies, including pricing and quantity variances. Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding payments, invoice status, coding, and approvals. Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate balances. Collaborate cross‑functionally with purchasing, receiving, and other TAS departments to resolve issues. Support month‑end and year‑end close activities, including accruals. Perform additional duties and special projects assigned by TAS. Maintain departmental vendor files. All other duties as assigned by TAS. Job Skills Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy when processing invoices. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Proficiency in accounting/ERP systems and knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP). Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritize in a high‑volume environment. Dependability and consistency in meeting deadlines and close schedules. Education & Training High school diploma or GED equivalent with relevant work experience. Associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred. Minimum Requirements 2+ years accounts payable or general accounting experience. 2+ years of experience with automated accounting systems. Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles. Previous experience with 2‑ and 3‑way purchase order matching. Tier 1 ERP experience with Infor or SAP (no Quickbooks). Preferred Requirements 3–5+ years of accounts payable experience. Physical Requirements / Work Environment Position is at least 90% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading.
