Associate Attorney – Chapter 13 Litigation Team Location: Chicago, IL Type: Full-time Compensation: Starting salary of $90,000+ with significant performance bonus opportunity The Semrad Law Firm is one of the nation’s leading consumer bankruptcy law firms. We are seeking an associate attorney with 2–5 years of consumer bankruptcy experience to join our Chicago office as part of our Chapter 13 litigation team . This position is ideal for an attorney who already understands the bankruptcy process, has courtroom experience, and wants to continue developing as a confident and effective advocate in a high-volume Chapter 13 practice. About the Role As a member of our Chapter 13 litigation team, you will represent clients in contested and routine Chapter 13 matters, appear regularly in bankruptcy court, and work closely with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to move cases efficiently toward confirmation and successful completion. This is not an entry-level training position. We are looking for someone who can step into court, manage a caseload, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly with clients, trustees, opposing counsel, and the court. At the same time, we provide strong internal support, mentorship, and the opportunity to deepen your expertise in consumer bankruptcy litigation. What You’ll Do Represent clients in Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings Appear regularly in bankruptcy court and at 341 meetings Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to prepare cases for hearing What We’re Looking For Licensed to practice law in Illinois 2–5 years of experience in consumer bankruptcy, preferably with Chapter 13 matters Courtroom experience in bankruptcy court or comparable litigation setting Strong oral advocacy, writing, and client communication skills Ability to work well in a team environment Commitment to client service and protecting individuals facing financial distress What We Offer Starting salary of $90,000+ Performance bonus opportunity Very strong paralegal and administrative support Collaborative, mission-driven work environment Full benefits package, including health, dental, vision, PTO, 401(k), and more Why The Semrad Law Firm?
