Marketing Specialist - Special Programs

Job Summary (Hybrid position, 2‑year contract) Marketing Specialist reporting to the Brand Marketing Manager within the Public Affairs & Marketing Department of UC Davis Health. The incumbent will split time 50/50 between the UC Cell and Gene Therapy program and the Department of Surgery’s Fetal Care & Treatment Center and CuRe trial (a joint program of The Center for Bioengineering in Medicine and the Fetal Care and Treatment Center). Responsibilities include developing marketing plans, webpage and CMS content, social media content (including video), paid media planning, and production of digital, print and presentation materials. The role may also support media relations for national, science and trade audiences. Excellent oral and written skills and a background in healthcare and/or health sciences are preferred. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, marketing or related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of marketing/communications experience, including paid and earned media, email, direct mail, content development, etc. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact courteously with faculty, staff, business professionals, patients, consumers and vendors. Experience developing and implementing communications and marketing plans. Knowledge of paid media trafficking across multiple mediums. Strong problem‑solving and metrics‑driven thinking. Research and analysis skills to identify trends, issues and potential invalid data. Reporting skills for progress of projects. Excellent organization, multitasking, prioritization, and independent judgment. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills. Experience with website content development and CMS usage. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Ability to take, edit and post photos and videos on social media and web platforms. Exceptional customer‑service skills, empathy, and willingness to support institutional customer‑service requirements. Knowledge of UC Davis policy, procedures, and regulations related to patient privacy, copyright and public information. Professionalism and adherence to UC Davis Principles of Community and CLAS standards. Preferred Qualifications Experience in healthcare or creating content that engages target audiences and drives action. Knowledge of Cell and Gene Therapy, advanced therapeutics, or clinical trials. Project management software experience or strong project‑management ability. AP style knowledge. Understanding of managed‑care health‑care operations and interrelationships among health plans, medical groups, and provider selection. Knowledge of UC Davis Health services, locations, and accepted health plans. Ability to distill complex research into clear communications for scientific and non‑scientific audiences.
