We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to support a high-volume retail organization. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who has experience managing complex, multi-state payroll tax activities in a large employee environment. The person in this role will work closely with payroll leadership and cross-functional partners to help ensure timely tax payments, accurate reporting, and smooth coordination across payroll operations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage monthly and quarterly payroll tax filings and deposits across multiple states for a large national workforce.

• Review payroll tax data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies in partnership with payroll team members and leadership.

• Prepare and maintain Excel-based reports that track tax activity, filing status, reconciliations, and related payroll metrics.

• Coordinate payroll tax updates within the HRIS and in-house payroll system to support accurate processing.

• Support payroll operations for a high-volume employee population exceeding 500 employees, including large-scale multi-state payroll environments.

• Collaborate with the Payroll Manager and internal stakeholders to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements.

• Investigate tax notices, respond to issues, and assist with corrective actions to minimize penalties or filing errors.

• At least 2 years of experience in payroll administration, with direct exposure to payroll processing.

• Hands-on experience managing multi-state payroll in a high-volume environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting, reconciliation, and data analysis.

• Experience working with HRIS platforms and in-house payroll systems.

• Ability to handle payroll responsibilities for organizations with large employee populations.

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through in deadline-driven payroll operations.
