Job Title: PostgreSQL Database Architect
Location: Plano, TX / Chandler, AZ / Charlotte, NC
Job Type: 12-Month Contract
Pay Range: $68 - $72 per hour
Interview Process: 2 Rounds

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled PostgreSQL Database Architect to join our team and support the design, development, and management of high-availability (HA) database environments. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with PostgreSQL administration in production environments, along with strong scripting and automation capabilities. You will be responsible for ensuring system performance, availability, and disaster recovery readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain production PostgreSQL database systems with a focus on stability and performance.
• Troubleshoot system issues and conduct root cause analysis for recurring problems.
• Implement proactive monitoring and alerting strategies to ensure uptime and performance
• Architect, implement, and support highly available PostgreSQL database clusters.
• Collaborate with engineering, development, and infrastructure teams on deployment and optimization strategies.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and Ansible playbooks for database maintenance tasks.
• Plan and execute failovers, database migrations, and backup/recovery processes using pgBackRest.
• Lead incident triage calls and provide on-call support including weekend rotations.
• Ensure business continuity through disaster recovery strategies and periodic testing.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation and operational playbooks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in PostgreSQL database administration in a 24x7 production environment.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL HA/replication, failover mechanisms, and performance tuning.
• Expertise in Unix/Linux system administration and shell scripting.
  Proficiency with pgBackRest for PostgreSQL backups and recovery.
• Experience managing PostgreSQL in Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
• Strong scripting skills in Shell or Python.
• Familiarity with Ansible for infrastructure automation.
• Understanding of monitoring tools and log analysis (e.g., Splunk).
• Experience with Kafka and cron-based job scheduling is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex production issues effectively.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
