ROLE OVERVIEW

As our Growth Lead, you will own growing and building our channels for supply and demand acquisition in these 3 major areas. You’ll spend the majority of your time on Lightning Lessons and add new growth bets every 6-12 months.

1. Lightning Lessons : This is our #1 channel for student lead gen with 300 new lessons published monthly, driving 20-30k new leads/mo at 1-2% conversion to courses with $0 spent on paid marketing. We run monthly live webinar series such as New on Maven for new experts, lead co-branded partnerships series, and B2B series for L&D.

   1. Run Lightning Lesson series end to end: ****campaign planning, positioning, speaker recruiting, onboarding, marketing comms, enablement, designing assets & landing pages, and speaker enablement & social activation.

   2. Acquire new distribution / brand partners. For instance, we’ve partnered with Clay, Amplitude, and Lenny Rachitsky.

2. B2B: In the last 3 months, we’ve closed $500K+ in Maven for Business sales from 10+ pilot partners. These all came inbound, and include companies like Salesforce, Notion, Microsoft, Walmart, Cigna, Lattice, Expedia, Mozilla, and Guild.

   • Own our B2B-focused L&D speaker series and turn it into a repeatable content engine that run at least quarterly.

   • Build and manage the handoff between leads and sales: lead scoring, routing, and follow-up.

   • Produce case studies with our lighthouse customers. You would work closely with our B2B sales lead on creation and distribution.

3. Social: Maven has scaled organically by tapping into UGC from our experts (the average expert has 25K Linkedin followers) and students. And, we have our own social presence on Linkedin (50k), Instagram (62K), TikTok (20K), and X (19K).

   • Activate experts to post on their social and promote their course/Lightning Lesson

   • Manage our Maven social presence on to grow our brand and demand.

You will report to Ka Kei Ho (Head of Product) and work closely with Mona Huang (Lifecycle marketing).

WHO YOU ARE

• 5-7 years in growth or end-to-end marketing role in a startup environment

• You’re experimentation-minded, highly adaptable, and a natural problem solver. You know how to set up MVPs for new growth bets, and also scale existing growth channels that are working.

• You’re an excellent writer, have a high bar for content quality (written and visual) with strong intuition for hooky social content.

• You’re data-driven and a systems-thinker. You balance execution with strategy and business/ROI-minded for every project you do.

TEAM & CULTURE

Maven is a small, high-trust, high-ownership team (currently 20 total). We move fast, write often, and bias toward action. You will be expected to both think strategically and own end-to-end processes as part of your role.

We post regular status updates to dedicated Slack channels to get input. If you’re blocked, everyone is there to help (but otherwise we’ll assume you’re on it). This makes Maven a great cross-functional learning environment. Expect direct feedback every single day!

We are fully remote, with no-meeting Wednesdays and company demos on Fridays. We gather for a week-long offsite twice a year, where we discuss strategy, pitch new ideas, and get absurdly competitive over random games.
