Director of Human Resources

the client seeks an experienced, community-oriented Director of Human Resources to lead a mature, fully paperless HR function during a period of transition and opportunity. This role is well-suited for a senior HR leader who brings judgment, discretion, empathy, and clear communication, and who can navigate the realities of a school environment where technical expertise and human-centered decision-making are equally important. the Director of Human Resources serves as the primary advisor to senior leadership on personnel matters, acting as a hands-on operator with strong fluency in payroll, benefits, compliance, and HR systems. The position requires maturity and calm confidence while managing complex personnel issues, advising through ambiguous situations where policy, precedent, and empathy must be balanced. The director will also contribute to building consistency and trust in the most sensitive aspects of employee relations. The director supervises a two-person HR operation and must be comfortable working at both the tactical, day-to-day level and the strategic level, including leading high-stakes investigations or separations. The ideal candidate is a seasoned HR professional with at least 10 years of leadership experience, strong employee relations and benefits administration experience, high ethical standards for handling confidential information, exceptional oral and written communication skills, and the ability to foster an inclusive workplace through emotional intelligence.
