Senior Accountant

Senior AccountantAmeriprise Financial has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant! This position would be responsible for accounting and reconciliation of investment and derivative portfolio transactions within PAM investment accounting system. This includes the reconciliation, analysis of data and problem resolution for investment and derivative transactions. Has primary responsibility for preparing various reports based on GAAP, statutory and management basis. Partners with business to develop and implement accounting practices.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform investment and derivative accounting processes for a variety of transactions within PAM accounting system in accordance with GAAP, statutory, internal and external policies, procedures and authorizations.Prepare journal entries; review, analyze and resolve moderately sophisticated issues in accounting transactions.Report preparation for inclusion in 10Q & 10K, statutory/regulatory filings, and compliance for distribution to internal business partners.Perform reconciliations including the research and clearing of outstanding variances.Improve processes to ensure that integrity, control and optimal efficiency are established while minimizing financial risks. Participate in various process improvement initiatives and other projects that support the department goals.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent (4 years)3+ years of accounting experienceGeneral ledger and spreadsheet experienceStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsDegree in Accounting or FinanceProven understanding of investment and derivative instrumentsStrong technical skills including advanced Excel and some Access database knowledgeStrong understanding of the end-to-end process flows, systems, controls and impacts across products and business lines they supportExperience with Workday general ledger accounting systemPublicly traded company experienceCertified Public AccountantIn-Office CollaborationWe are a client-centric, relationship-based business. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location.
