Accountant Senior

Senior AccountantUnder general direction, the Senior Accountant is primarily concerned with the accounting functions for the organization and its subsidiaries.Responsibilities:Prepare journal entries and maintain general books of account, such as general ledgers and journals, according to established accounting proceduresPrepare, analyze, and/or reconcile complex special and regular financial statements and information according to standardized methods and proceduresConduct complex accounting system, procedural, and internal audit reviews to determine if proper accounting methods and/or operational procedures are being followed and to verify the accuracy of financial informationDevelop and prepare reports and financial information/documentation, including reports of analysis, audit or other findings and recommendations, for various levels of managementSupervise and review the work of a group of employees engaged in accounting or auditing related activities and assist in training of entry-level accountants and clerical personnelAssist higher level professional accountants in accounting system maintenance and the analysis of various financial records and accountsDevelop and monitor accounting systems and audit programs or proceduresPerform appropriate audit procedures in all general ledger areas and review internal control procedures for compliance with established procedures and regulationsAnalyze and evaluate review results by offering alternative solutions or recommendations for resolving differences or problem areasAssist in expanding, developing and applying accounting procedures to solve accounting problems involving electronic data processingAssist in developing budgets and in preparing recommendations for future budgeting purposesEnsures accurate and timely preparation of the monthly financial packageEnsures that an up to date procedure manual is developed and maintained within General Accounting so that the staff can be properly guidedPrepares for year-end auditsEvaluates existing procedures for recording financial transactions to determine methods of reducing time and cost of the Accounting operationEnsures that the monthly accounting cycle is completed accurately within established deadlinesAssists in new system, procedure and process implementationMaintains record retention and filing systemPlans and coordinates the activities of the general accounting staffProvides direction and guidance to staffIs responsible for department's operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standardsIs responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization's financial resources
