Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting activities associated with a portfolio of real estate properties and investments. This role manages property-level accounting, monthly and year-end close processes, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, budgeting, and analysis. The Senior Real Estate Accountant works closely with property managers, asset managers, auditors, and other internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial information. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of real estate properties. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. Perform monthly close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, tenant receivables, security deposits, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other property-level accounts. Analyze financial results and investigate significant budget-to-actual and period-over-period variances. Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections, and financial analysis. Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and tax-related requests. Assist with partnership, investor, and ownership reporting as applicable. Review work prepared by staff accountants and provide guidance on accounting issues and procedures. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable GAAP requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience with property-level accounting and real estate financial statements. Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis. #J-18808-Ljbffr
